Cameron & Murdock
NOTE TO READER: - This page needs updating.
Please have a read of the articles below and have a think about matters. Then make up your own mind about the relationship
Please bear in mind the Murdock owned Sun in Scotland vigorously promoted the SNP while in the English version of the Sun the Murdock Empire warned in very dark and dramatic terms about a Labour Government being in the pocket of the SNP if anyone was mad enough to vote Labour and put them in Government. As brilliant a bit of electioneering I have ever seen and it did affect the outcome of the election by frightening people. Even David Cameron was surprised by the result returning the Conservatives to power.
Some of the articles are a little old now but when you read them and look at what is happening to the BBC under the Conservatives it makes one think. Also as mentioned at the end of this section you can do your own internet search for more up-to-date articles
When Rebeka Brooks resigned from News International she received a payoff of £10.8 million and various benefits. I am a retired solicitor and I have puzzled over this because if someone leaves their job voluntarily, that is resigns, they are not legally entitled to compensation because they severed the legal relationship of employer and employee. One can negotiate a package before one resigns but one has to have a position of power to be able to do so. The package may simply be because she was a close ally and friend of Rupert Murdoch, who once described her as his "larrikin" – mischievous youth – and he wanted to make sure she was financially provided for while being asked questions by the police.
A point of interest is if an employer makes a gift to a former employee then no tax is payable on the gift by the employee; this is because at the time of the gift there was no contractual obligation on the employer to pay the money to the employee; this all means the former employee is not contractually entitled to the gift and so the former employee does not have to pay tax on the money and benefits received.
Note: Rebeka Brooks was found not guilty of all charges but Andy Coulson was found guilty. Anyone interested in the case should read Private Eye back copies; if you ask politely the back issues department will point you at the issues to buy.

I am not associated with Private Eye in anyway; I am just a regular reader of the magazine.

Now back to Cameron and Murdock………………
The Independent Thursday 12th November 2009
“Lord Mandelson's attack shines spotlight on Tory leader's links with media mogul.”
“Has Cameron done a deal with Murdoch?”

And…………….
Polly Toynbee in the Guardian Thursday 26th April 2012
“Murdoch and the Cameron entourage: a shameful tale laid out for all to see.”
It is a very interesting article. Please do have a read.

And……………………….
Rowena Mason, Political Correspondent in the telegraph.
“David Cameron's five secret meetings with Rupert Murdoch”
A number of undisclosed meetings came to light during the Leveson Enquiry. You may recall Mr Rupert Murdock had a major brain fade when giving evidence.
And………………………..
The Independent again of Tuesday 21st April 2015
“Rupert Murdoch berated Sun journalists for not doing enough to attack Ed Miliband and stop him winning the general election.”
And there is a lot more. Just search for Murdoch and Cameron and News International and read on.
Note: - To be fair New Labour were just as bad toadying up to the Murdock Empire and one cannot blame the Murdock Empire for taking advantage and promoting their commercal interests. A number of commercial interests lobby the government of the day with varying success.
